Barton Shield
On Saturday morning July 9th, our Barton Shield Team managed by Captain, John Chawke played Roscrea in Castletroy. We fielded a very young team and they performed magnificently. Barton Shield is played on an aggregate basis and despite being 5 down after 9 we fought back and were unlucky to be beaten on the 18th by 1 hole. Representing Charleville on the day were Conor Slevin, Barry Ryan, Cian O’Connell and Cathal O’Carroll with reserve Eoin O’Connell.
This brings down the curtain to the 2016 Season of G U I Cups and Shields Competitions for Charleville and our thanks are due to all the players, managers, caddies and supporters for their commitment to the Club.
